Chicago PUG Participation Drive

Are you familiar with how publicly funded TV and radio stations have pledge drives to attract and retain new members and to raise revenue?

The Chicago PostgreSQL User Group will have its own version of a pledge drive.

All we ask is your participation.

We need your help and input to improve Chicago PUG.

There are big changes in store and if you want to be part of the decision-making process, you must participate.

The Chicago PUG Participation Drive will consist of performing a series of simple tasks.

A few moments of your time is all that is required.

TASK 1: Sign up and register to the Chicago PostgreSQL Meetup Group website

Create a free account on meetup.com

Join the Chicago PostgreSQL Meetup Group

Now find the next meeting, sign up, and attend.

TASK 2: Subscribe to Chicago PUG Blog

The email subscription form is located at the top and bottom of this post.

Just type in your name and email address in the respective fields, then click on the blue Subscribe button.

If there are no errors, you will see this:

Go to your email account.

If you can't find the confirmation email, check your spam folder.

The email should read as follows:

Click on the blue “Confirm your subscription” button.

A new webpage will open.

TASK 3: Submit a PUG Google form survey

Periodically, we will administer surveys and questionnaires via Google forms to determine community opinion or consensus on certain topics relevant to PUG.

For example, how do you feel about the possibility of having in-person meetups concurrently with already extant virtual meetups via Zoom?

As the number of vaccinations increase and pandemic restrictions ease, these “hybrid” meetups would possibly start in July, August, or September.

A screenshot of the Hybrid In-Person Sessions survey appears below.

Use the following survey link to make your voice heard.

If you are already a Chicago PUG member, you will probably get this link via email.

Of course, we highly recommend that everyone get vaccinated against COVID-19 for your own safety as well as for others.

TASK 4: Subscribe to Chicago PUG YouTube channel

If you have done the previous three tasks, you have almost completed the Chicago PUG Participation Drive.

One more task remains.

The Chicago PUG YouTube channel is a work-in-progress and will soon host recorded speaker presentations for those who missed or wish to review the live webcasts.

To subscribe for free to this channel, go to

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAdZwRStX2fZaeeZmmyhUZg

and click on the red SUBSCRIBE button.

If you are logged in to YouTube via your Google account, PUG will add to your list of subscribed channels.

To get notifications of new videos, click the bell icon.

That's it! You are done! Congratulations!

Welcome to the world of PostgreSQL!

Stay tuned for more updates.
